Amen Ben...and what an amazing "new you" it will be...marriage is such a huge blessing. I am so thankful for it every day. It magnifies our earthly weaknesses while providing the solution - our spouse who loves us so and and in this undconditional love completes where we lack (humanly and in the flesh of course)...and all because God loved us enough to provide that person for us (yay!). You are right when you say that marriage will effect every other part of "you" and who you are. God will use marriage to teach you things about yourself you never knew possible b/c you simply weren't in the position to know those things yet. Marriage is sacred and while fun, amazing, joyful, and pleasurable - it is also a classroom where God teaches us to be more and more and like His son, Jesus Christ, every.single.day without fail - and this is GOOD (sometimes it hurts (our pride haha) and is uncomfortable but it is good! :)) Blessings to you and Monica on your huge day this coming Sat. I will be thinking of you both and praying for your day, your life together, and all that the Lord is currently doing with and through you both and will do in the future!!

very nice...Ben Ray - I still think of the times our paths crossed while experiencing youth group at SVBC. I am not surprised at what God has done through you...and what you have allowed Him to do. I am so blessed by your faith, example, and life!! PTL!

Mike,

If I could read the entire of corpus of only two writers, one of them would definitely be Eugene Peterson. He is indeed the grandfather of pastorology. (Oh and the other write would be N.T. Wright).

He is incredibly quotable. I had to read 'Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places' slowly to chew on his dense languages. Reading Peterson is like conversing with your incredibly wise Grandfather who is also a pastor and scholar.

ha. i JUST asked you this. i always hesitate in asking people about what they do/how they spend their time b/c i myself feel pretty guarded in my own response being that i own a small business and "stay at home" (which in most people's minds = oh, she must be free to do anything). i was glad to hear how you spend your days and do understand that being somewhat 'self-directed' in how we spend time is actually much harder at times than just being told what to do and how to do it (much less how to measure the quality of it in light of the world's expectations vs the gospel). enjoyed the Augustine quote as well...

I don't know if they qualify as spring or summer music (I'm told they're more winter music), but I've just gotten into Kings of Convenience. Not their new album, but their first two.

Also, been on a mammoth Mark Kozelek/Sun Kil Moon/Red House Painters kick.

And now, thanks to my dad and a visit to Nashville, some bluegrass. Bill Monroe might be a good place to start.

Allman Brothers
Beatles (Abbey Road/White Album)
Nina Simone
Bob Marley (Exodus)
Radiohead (In Rainbows --- perfect summer album)

I don't know, I think the old stuff always does it better.
